Our Full Day Kindergarten program is the talk of our community because of its well rounded approach to learning, loving, and Judaic traditions.
Our time-honored mission statement describing our "Child's Garden" is that we anticipate through the kindergarten year that our children will grow intellectually, socially, emotionally, creatively, physically and Judaically.
To this extent, we teach reading, writing, phonemic awareness, problem solving, science, social studies, music, physical fitness, Judaic traditions and so much more.
Our reading program includes a "Print Enriched Class," which means that sight and color words, job charts with pictures, attendance charts, etc. are specifically placed around the room to promote the reading process.
Every child will leave our kindergarten program with the reading skills necessary to (and many time, above) to succeed in 1st grade.
Our multisensory approach will include exercises using tactile, kinesthetic, visual, and movement integration. We will work on the handwriting skills, journal writing and inventive spelling, eventually leading to appropriate and correct grammar and phonemic spelling (sounding out the words and blends).
We will focus on math skills including adding, subtracting, positioning, counting to 100, sets, graphs, greater than/less than, measuring, weather, and "munchie math" (we count cheerios and eat them!).
As you can see, the days aren't long enough. The weeks fly by and as the year comes to an end, you and your child will delight in the knowledge that you have "Shared the Experience" at Sons of Israel.
